Valpo Mini Marathon

Brief Description:
The HRS Events Valpo Mini Marathon is anything but a miniature event. In its fifth year of existence the Valpo Mini will feature a new USATF certified, 13.1 mile course which begins in historic downtown Valpo and continues through the scenic "Crossroads of America". This course is NOT two loops! We have returned the course to something very close to the original! The course is not completely flat, it has a few rolling hills. The race will be supervised by police and volunteers to ensure a 15 minute per mile pace is maintained and to monitor participant safety. Water stops will be located at miles 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, and 12. Bathrooms will be available periodically on the course. The Mini Marathon will be capped at 1,000 entrants so register now!

*CARA and CRS Runners deduct $2.50 w/ membership number.
*No packets will be mailed as there will be race day pickup available.

Post-Race Party:
Don't miss the fun-filled post race party at the race finish line! Participants and their families are all invited. Great food and entertainment will be provided. This year will feature live music by Autumn Dawn and raffle drawings of prizes from Valpo's own local vendors - directly following the awards ceremony! Packet Pick-up:
Pre-race packet pick-up will be April 8 - 10, 2009 at The Human Race Sports located at 58 W. Lincolnway, Valparaiso, Indiana. The Human Race Sports store in Valparaiso will be open from 10am to 8pm April 8-10 during the packet pick up days. Visit www.humanracesports.com for directions and additional information. Race day pick up is available starting at 5:30am.

Baby joggers, strollers, headsets, etc. are prohibited. There are no refunds or entry transfers.

Directions To The Race:
Valparaiso, Indiana is located in northwest Indiana approximately 1 hour from downtown Chicago.

FROM THE WEST: If traveling from the Chicagoland area the easiest way to Valparaiso is to head east on either 80/94 or 90 (toll road). From either (80/94 or 90) exit SOUTH on 65. Next, exit EAST on 30 in Merrillville. Your next exit will be in Valparaiso. Exit NORTH (left) on Washington St. from hwy. 30. There is a Walgreens on the north side of 30 at the intersection of 30 & Washington St. If you see it you are in the right place! Turn LEFT on Washington! Continue north on Washington until you reach Lincolnway. Turn left on Lincolnway. Human Race Sports will be on your immediate right and the race start/finish area at the next light (Lincolnway & Lafayette). Parking is available all over the downtown area.

FROM THE EAST: There are three main ways to get to Valparaiso from the east: 94, 80 (toll road) or hwy. 30.

From 94 : Exit SOUTH on hwy. 49 at the "Valparaiso/Chesterton" exit. This will be exit 26B. Next, exit WEST on hwy. 30. Continue west on 30, passing Valparaiso University on your right, until you reach Washington St. Washington will be the 3 rd light after exiting onto 30 from 49. If you see a Walgreens on your right you are in the right place! Turn RIGHT on Washington! Continue north on Washington until you reach Lincolnway. Turn left on Lincolnway. Human Race Sports will be on your immediate right and the race start/finish area at the next light (Lincolnway & Lafayette). Parking is available all over the downtown area.

From 80 : Exit 80 on hwy. 49 at the "Valparaiso/Chesterton" exit. This is exit 31. Once you pay your toll to exit you will be given the option of north or southbound 49. Turn right/south onto 49. Next, exit WEST on hwy. 30. Continue west on 30, passing Valparaiso University on your right, until you reach Washington St. Washington will be the 3 rd light after exiting onto 30 from 49. If you see a Walgreens on your right you are in the right place! Turn right on Washington! Continue north on Washington until you reach Lincolnway. Turn LEFT on Lincolnway. Human Race Sports will be on your immediate right and the race start/finish area at the next light (Lincolnway & Lafayette). Parking is available all over the downtown area.

From 30 : Once in Valparaiso, continue west on 30, passing Valparaiso University on your right, until you reach Washington St. Washington will be the 3 rd light after passing beneath 49. If you see a Walgreens on your right you are in the right place! Turn RIGHT on Washington! Continue north on Washington until you reach Lincolnway. Turn left on Lincolnway. Human Race Sports will be on your immediate right and the race start/finish area at the next light (Lincolnway & Lafayette). Parking is available all over the downtown area.

FROM THE SOUTH: The easiest way to get to Valparaiso from the South is on hwy. 65. From 65, exit EAST on 30 in Merrillville. Your next exit will be in Valparaiso. Exit NORTH (left) on Washington St. from hwy. 30. There is a Walgreens on the north side of 30 at the intersection of 30 & Washington St. If you see it you are in the right place! Be sure to turn LEFT on Washington! Continue north on Washington until you reach Lincolnway. Turn left on Lincolnway.
